Reading Strategy Tips
- Scan for numbers and times first. Questions about prices, hours, dates, and locations are common at A2 level. Numbers stand out quickly and help you locate the right part of the text.
- Learn common signal words. Words like "sau đó" (after that), "nhưng" (but), "vì" (because), and "nếu" (if) show the relationship between ideas and often point to the correct answer.
- Read all answer options before deciding. At A2, two options often seem similar. Read the Vietnamese text again with the close options in mind to spot the difference.
- Don't be misled by familiar words. The wrong answer options often contain words that appear in the passage. Focus on the meaning of the whole sentence, not just individual words.
- Use context to guess unknown words. If you don't know a word, look at the surrounding sentence. For example, if you don't know "sửa chữa," the phrase "thang máy đang sửa chữa" next to a notice about stairs tells you something is wrong with the elevator.
