Introduction
The A2 speaking section of the NLTV exam tests your ability to answer simple questions about familiar topics using basic Vietnamese sentences. You will be asked about personal information, daily life, family, and preferences. Practice speaking clearly with correct tones and complete sentences.
Topic 1: Personal Introduction
Question: Bạn tên là gì và bạn bao nhiêu tuổi? (What is your name and how old are you?)
Answer
Sample Answer: Tôi tên là Minh. Tôi ba mươi tuổi. (My name is Minh. I am thirty years old.) Explanation: Use "Tôi tên là..." for your name and "Tôi [number] tuổi" for your age. "Tuổi" means age or years old.

Answer
Sample Answer: Tôi đến từ Nhật Bản. Tôi sống ở Hà Nội được hai năm rồi. (I am from Japan. I have been living in Hanoi for two years.) Explanation: "Đến từ" means "come from." "Sống ở" means "live in." The pattern "[verb] được [time] rồi" expresses how long something has been happening.

Explanation: "Mua sắm" means to shop. "Chợ" is market, "trung tâm thương mại" is shopping mall. "Khi cần" means when (I) need to — a useful structure for conditional sentences.
Speaking Tips for A2
- Speak in complete sentences, not just single words — examiners want to hear full structures like "Tôi thích..." or "Hàng ngày tôi..."
- Pay close attention to tones: mispronouncing a tone can change the meaning of a word entirely
- If you don't understand a question, politely ask: "Bạn có thể nói lại không?" (Can you repeat that?)
- Connect your sentences with words like "và" (and), "nhưng" (but), "vì" (because), and "rồi" (then) to sound more natural
- Practice answering out loud — speaking Vietnamese and thinking it are very different skills
