Zalo, in particular, is dominant for personal and professional communication within Vietnam, often preferred over SMS or direct calls for quick exchanges. It's common for Vietnamese people to ask for your Zalo contact rather than just your phone number. When making calls, politeness markers like Alo (hello) are standard for answering, and the tone often softens with honorifics like chị, anh, cô, chú, even with people you don't know well, to show respect based on perceived age or status. If someone doesn't answer their phone, it's generally acceptable to call back after a short while or send a text message. Don't be surprised if calls are short and to the point; long, casual phone conversations are less common than via messaging apps. Always ensure your phone is charged, especially when out and about, as smartphone dependency is high for navigation, payments, and social interaction.

✅ Bạn có Wifi không? (While "mạng" means network, in common daily usage for internet access, "Wifi" is more specific and often used. If referring to mobile data, you might say "gói cước 3G/4G" or simply "có mạng di động không?")

❌ Tôi sẽ liên lạc bạn sau.

✅ Tôi sẽ liên lạc với bạn sau. ("Liên lạc" often takes the preposition "với" to mean "to contact with someone.")
